PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtun Khawa has successfully increased its’ forest cover to a whopping 6%. The news comes after when the Prime Minister of Pakistan inaugurated Pakistan’s monsoon tree plantation drive. The drive is a part of Pakistan’s 10 Billion tree tsunami, which aims to restore Pakistan’s forest covers.
On the 8th of August, 2020 the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan inaugurates the monsoon tree plantation drive. He mentioned in his tweet where he asked his fellow citizens to plant as many trees in the upcoming days as possible. His passion for saving Pakistan’s forest area was mentioned by him during a speech in an international platform where the PM of Pakistan stated:
“Pakistan’s beauty inspired me to save it.“
Planting trees is Pakistan’s best bet to most of the climate change-related issues it faces. These issues range from heavy monsoon rains, an increase in summer temperatures, and air pollution. Trees are a man’s best friend and can do wonders if they are protected and planted in different parts of our built and non-built areas.
The increase in the forest area is a big step forward and depicts the struggle of PM Khan’s government. It is important we as citizens must take and play our part, and plant trees wherever and whenever possible because at the end of the day they are there to save Us.
