KARACHI: Pakistan Navy (PN) inducts a “state of the art” corvette in its fleet to ensure the safety of Pakistan’s maritime border. Chief of Pakistan Navy also known as Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood was present at the ceremony and inaugurated the acquired naval asset known as YARMOOK.
Speaking at the ceremony, the 4-star head of Pakistan Navy stated that the YARMOOK is a much-needed asset to ensure the safety of Pakistani maritime border; thus will ensure and contribute achieving the sustained maritime security through Pakistan Navy Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) initiatives; since the ship is capable of carrying out multiple operations from handling transport helicopter to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) Yarmook has one of the best and state of the Art weapons and security systems that are much needed for Pakistan to ensure maritime security of its border remains intact. Especially considering the increased security risk with Gwadar Port becoming operational under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Pakistan has a coastline of 990 k/m, where the security forces of Pakistan have to maintain a strong presence to ensure the coastline does not fall under the hands of international drug lords and smugglers. Another corvette is also in order and expected to reach Pakistan by the mid of next year, 2021 from the same company M/S DAMEN Shipyards, Romania.
