SEATTLE: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation appoints Dr Anita Zaidi, a Pakistani origin doctor who previously served as department chair of Pediatrics and Child Health at the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan.
The news was officially announced on 11th of June, 2020. Dr Anita will be effective on her role starting from 2nd of November, 2020. Dr Anita Zaidi was also awarded Caplow’s Children Prize for her work in bringing health services to poverty stricken regions of Karachi – the largest city of Pakistan.
As the President of Gender Equality of Bills and Malinda Gates foundation, she will be working to ensure foundation’s better and broader gender integration agenda, thus making her to work with all programs of Bills and Melinda Gates Foundation, ensuring gender is incorporated in a thoughtful manner.
Seeing her portfolio of working in poverty stricken communities, Dr Anita’s appointment seems promising and a good news for Pakistan.
