GENEVA – Speaking to a press conference, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Mr. Filippo Grandi ranks Pakistan as the top 4th host of Refugees in the year 2020.
Adding to the press statement, the commissioner highlighted the struggle developing countries like Pakistan face by hosting refugees. Forced displacement has doubled over the years since 2010, he added.
According to the statement, Turkey takes the lead by hosting 3.9 million refugees out of whom 92% are Syrian refugees. Today 1% of the world population is refugee.
Pakistan along with other developing countries who are hosting a big number of refugees are founding themselves in a difficult position especially due to COVID-19 Pandemic. However, as long as situation in Afghanistan does not changes, Pakistan will remain in the list of top most refugee hosting nations.
